Terms of Service

Last updated: June 21, 2026

Summary

PaperQuire is free for personal use. Commercial use requires a Pro or Enterprise license. Your documents are yours. We provide the software as-is.

1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing, or using PaperQuire ("the Software"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Software.

2. License tiers

2.1 Free tier

PaperQuire is available at no cost for personal, non-commercial use. The Free tier includes:

  • Markdown editing with live preview
  • PDF export with built-in templates
  • Plugin support
  • Dark and light themes

2.2 Pro tier

A Pro license is required for commercial use, including use by businesses, organizations, freelancers, or any for-profit activity. The Pro tier adds:

  • DOCX and HTML export
  • AI Assist (bring-your-own-key)
  • Batch and multi-document export
  • Custom templates
  • Priority support

Pro licenses are available as monthly subscriptions, annual subscriptions, or one-time perpetual purchases. See Pricing for current rates.

2.3 Enterprise tier

Enterprise licenses are available for organizations requiring centralized deployment, brand policy enforcement, managed configuration, and Confluence integration. Enterprise licenses are sold per-seat with a minimum of 10 seats. Contact paperquire@gmail.com for details.

3. License key

Pro and Enterprise licenses are activated with a license key that is validated entirely offline on your device. License keys are non-transferable and tied to the individual or organization that purchased them. You may use a single license key on up to 3 devices owned by you.

4. Your content

You retain all rights to the documents, files, and content you create with PaperQuire. We do not claim any ownership or license to your content. Your files are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded to our servers.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software, except as permitted by applicable law.
  • Redistribute, sublicense, or resell the Software or license keys.
  • Remove or alter any proprietary notices, labels, or marks in the Software.
  • Use the Software to produce content that violates applicable laws.

6. Third-party plugins

PaperQuire supports a plugin system that allows third-party extensions. Third-party plugins are not developed, endorsed, or reviewed by PaperQuire. You install and use third-party plugins at your own risk. We are not responsible for any damage, data loss, or security issues caused by third-party plugins.

7. AI Assist

The AI Assist feature requires you to provide your own API key for a third-party AI provider. By using AI Assist, you acknowledge that:

  • Document content is sent to the AI provider you configure.
  • You are responsible for compliance with the AI provider's terms of service and any applicable regulations.
  • PaperQuire is not responsible for the accuracy, quality, or safety of AI-generated content.

8. Updates

PaperQuire may automatically check for and download updates. Updates may include bug fixes, security patches, and new features. You can disable auto-update in Settings. We reserve the right to modify features between versions.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL PAPERQUIRE, ITS AUTHORS, OR CONTRIBUTORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SOFTWARE IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

11. Refund policy

We offer a 30-day refund policy for Pro license purchases. If you are not satisfied with PaperQuire, contact paperquire@gmail.com within 30 days of purchase for a full refund. Refunds for annual and perpetual licenses are prorated after the 30-day window.

12. Termination

You may stop using PaperQuire at any time by uninstalling the Software. We may terminate or suspend your license if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use Pro or Enterprise features ceases, but you retain access to the Free tier and all documents you have created.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Delaware.

14. Changes to terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the application or on this page. Continued use of the Software after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
